Cracked Heels

Do you have cracks in your heels? Does your heel bleed and become painful if you walk on it too much? Do you feel like regular cream just doesn’t help relieve your cracked skin?

Cracked heels are a common issue that if left untreated can lead to major foot concerns such as infection.

There are a range of risk factors that contribute to cracked skin, these include:

  • Dry skin
  • Poor footwear
  • Incorrect use of creams
  • Smoking
  • Diabetes
  • Skin conditions, such as eczema or psoriasis
  • Tinea pedis (AKA Athletes foot)

Dr Ella understands that your cracked heels can be quiet painful and this can lead to unnatural walking patterns, which in turn can cause knee, hip and/or lower back pain. Dr Ella will treat your cracked skin by using a range of sterile instruments to painlessly remove the dry skin. She will also conduct some assessments to try and identify the cause of your cracked heels, so therefore you can come up with a prevention and management plan together.
