If you present with pain this will be addressed immediately but the additional goal of your first Podiatry appointment is to not only deal with an immediate crisis but to complete a comprehensive leg and foot health Assessment. This includes a full review of your lower limb from your hips to your feet and address any concerns you may have (past and present) so Dr Ella can form an appropriate treatment plan of how best to help you.
Dealing with acute pain is critical but just as important is working out why this situation evolved in the first place to avoid repeat reoccurrences.
During your initial appointment (pain permitting), Dr Ella will examine:
- your foot type (low, high or normal arches)
- assess the way you walk (gait)
- measure the weight distribution in your feet (even or are toes or heels carrying uneven stress)
- assess your mobility & strength
- detect any restrictions or biomechanical problems
- check your leg and foot pulses (circulation)
- check sensation (feeling)
- check your footwear suit your foot type (may need some modifications or medical grade footwear)
- check your nails and skin
